Frequently asked questions

  • How much does an electrician callout cost?

Every job is different, so we don’t work off a flat rate. For small jobs, we can often give you a price over the phone once we know what’s involved. For anything bigger, we come out, take a proper look, and send a written quote before any work starts. No obligation, no pressure.

  • How do I know if my switchboard needs an upgrade?

A few clear signs: ceramic fuses instead of circuit breakers, no safety switches (RCDs), the board keeps tripping, or the house is over 25 years old and has never been upgraded. Any one of those is worth a check. A modern switchboard is one of the most important safety upgrades a home can have.

  • What is a Certificate of Electrical Safety, and do I need one?

A Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) is a legal document that confirms electrical work has been done safely and to Victorian standards. It’s required for most jobs beyond basic maintenance. We issue a CES for every job that needs one, and lodge it with Energy Safe Victoria on your behalf.

  • Do you charge more for after-hours or weekend callouts?

For genuine emergencies, we do our best to help outside business hours. After-hours and weekend rates are higher than standard weekday rates. We’ll always confirm the callout fee with you before we head out, so there are no surprises.

  • What warranty do you offer on your electrical work?

Our workmanship is covered by warranty, and installed products come with the manufacturer’s warranty. If anything ever needs a second look, give us a call and we’ll sort it out.

  • Do you work with landlords, property managers, and real estate agents?

Yes. We handle safety checks, urgent tenant callouts, and larger upgrades for rental properties across Melbourne’s east. Invoices can go directly to the agent, owner, or property manager, whichever suits your setup.
